Der Hoofdtoren ist eine spätgotische Struktur, die auf der Seeseite aus weißgelbem Naturstein und Ziegel auf der Stadtseite errichtet wurde. Tatsächlich ist der Hoofdtoren eine vergrößerte Ansicht der Türme, die die Nordseite von Hoorn schützten.
